Awards

WAYVE is an award winning program and so are many of the amazing people who get involved. Here is a list of some of the awards for the program and individuals throughout the years.

Group Awards

  • WAYVE Regional Team – Youth Engaging Organization (Volunteer Impact Awards, 2014)
    • To recognize students, teachers, schools, and adults who have made a significant contribution to positive youth engagement.
  • WAYVE Team – Group Youth Award (KYAC, 2007)
    • Awarded to a group of two or more young people who have made a positive contribution to their community through teamwork and collaboration.
  • WAYVE Team – award for outstanding service to Law Enforcement and Crime Prevention (Optimist Clubs of Kitchener and Waterloo, 2007)
  • WAYVE – Peacemaker (YMCA Canada Peace Medal, KW YMCA, 2007)
  • WAYVE Program – Youth Appreciation Citation (The Optimist Club of Lakeshore Village, 2005)
    • For upholding the dignity of youth, for showing sincere devotion to the welfare of others, and for the generous and unselfish contributions to society.
  • WAYVE – Peacemaker (YMCA Canada Peace Medal, KW YMCA, 2004)
  • WAYVE – Social Action and Justice Award (KYAC Youth Award, 2004)

Individual Awards

  • Rachal Bolger, Regional Team Mentor – Personal Triumph Award (KYAC Awards 2017)
    • Awarded to a young person who has surmounted obstacles with optimism and hope and has demonstrated perseverance, determination and a passion for life.
  • Heyden Cowie, Regional Team Member – Social Action & Justice Award (KYAC Awards 2017)
    • Awarded to a young person who has taken a stand to bring awareness to an issue or cause through positive, proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • John Thang, Regional Team Mentor – Leadership Award (KYAC Awards 2016)
    • Awarded to a young person who has shown significant and continuing leadership that improves the quality of life of others and encourages their peers.
  • Meena Waseem, Regional Team Member – Community Contribution Award (KYAC Awards, 2016)
    • Awarded to a young person who has demonstrated strong involvement and dedication in two or more KYAC Youth Award categories.
  • Jonathan Stern, In-School Team Student Leader – Leadership Award (KYAC Awards, 2015)
    • Awarded to a young person who has shown significant and continuing leadership that improves the quality of life of others and encourages their peers.
  • Kailey Ellingwood, Regional Team Member – Outstanding Youth Award (Volunteer Impact Awards, 2015)
    • For a high school or post-secondary student who exemplifies positive youth engagement and has made an outstanding contribution through their volunteering.
  • Rebecca Pister and Jennifer Durst, WAYVE Facilitators – Adult Ally (Volunteer Impact Awards, 2014)
    • To recognize students, teachers, schools, and adults who have made a significant contribution to positive youth engagement.
  • Ashley Larsen, Youth Mentor– Give Volunteer Act Award (Cambridge and North Dumfries United Way Community Achievement Night, 2013)
    • For a volunteer who has helped create a better life or community by offering hope for change, providing leadership, or providing outstanding support to programs and services that make a difference in our community.
  • Harley Wynen, Regional Team Member – Social Action and Justice Award (KYAC Awards, 2013)
    • Awarded to a young person who has taken a stand to bring awareness to an issue or cause through a positive, proactive and solution-focused approach.
